They've got to dangle free gift cards to get people there? LOL

Anonymous said...

I'll go listen. If I remember correctly the last one of these was well attended. If I get a gift card then I'm going to Bravo after!

Anonymous said...

Maybe Tony Baloney will explain why he tried to confiscate LeFleur East wealth with a big ass property tax increase.

Anonymous said...

Maybe Mayor Transparency can explain why he is aiding the effort to keep the Siemens corrective action plan away from the public. Meet the new Harvey, same as the old Harvey.

Anonymous said...

Went to the last meeting.

In retro- huge waste of time w/ powerless org worried about "plantings" & kissing Robt Graham's ass.

Tony Yarber acted very triumphant considering how much NEJax voted for him.

Next to nothing Yarber said at that meeting as actually happened.

Except more water leaks and pot holes

In meantime OH alien ship has arrived.

There's been no words of solidarity with NEJax from Tony Yarber.

Lumumba was smart enough to have welcomed the OH recoverees into the interior of the Kush.

KF's golden Mayor Tony Yarber looked other way.

729 what meeting are you talking about?

Anonymous said...

Can someone explain what is Le Fleur East?

Anonymous said...

@8:31 the last Hallelujah Chorus this shop had with Yarber. Weren't you there?

Anonymous said...

@ 8:54 - NE Jackson doesn't sound as fashionable as it once did - thus LeFleur East was born. This is only part left that is trying stop the blight so they wanted their cheeky name.

Anonymous said...

@8:31 Yarber may have been at an event in Lefleur East but it wasn't hosted by Lefleur East Foundation. Good try.

Anonymous said...

Nice coverup. Whose ass you up now?

Anonymous said...

Does anyone on here actually live in Jackson?

Anonymous said...

Fewer people live in Jackson every single day.

Anonymous said...

1:23, I don't believe that was the point of 10:24. Everyone on here has an opinion about the Capitol City of Jackson. Yet, I'll bet few if any live in Jackson. I'll bet further that none of you could do a better job with what Mayor Yarber inherited from the previous administrations (Mayor Lumumba excluded). Take care of your own corner of the world rather than criticizing and trying to bring down Jackson. The surrounding suburbs are only successful due to the proximity to the Capitol, its government and medical facilities. Your wish for Jackson's failure will bring about your own.

Burke said...

Thank you, 2:45. (Yes, Kingfish, I can't help reading the anti-Jackson comments from time to time. Still waiting to see such a comment from someone who may be a mature human being.)

Anonymous said...

Correct 2:45 Unfortunately these people don't realize that crap spreads outwards. There are countless examples that have been mentioned on here before (incidents in Clinton, Ridgeland etc) but the same people still come on here and ignore the facts. If nothing else, why would someone not want to take pride in the positives of their state capitol instead of bashing it? Some people aren't happy unless they're trying to bring others down. What a sad, miserable way to go through life.

I live and pay taxes in Jackson. You pollyannas are a big part of Jackson's problem. The idea that others couldn't do as good, or better, a job than our JPS School Principal mayor even considering the circumstances is laughable.

Anonymous said...

You, 4:32, are representative of the problem, and that is NOT laughable. Support our Capitol City for a strong metro area and Mississippi. Period.

Anonymous said...

@5:23 PM is indicative of Jackustan's chicken or egg first crowd.

Contagion theories and slippery slop fallacies are all they have to offer.

Anonymous said...

6:18 I see no evidence of chicken or egg or "slop". Don't be angry. Tell what YOU have to offer.

1. Jackson is number six on the list of fastest shrinking cities in USA according to a June 2015 article.
2. We at the mercy of a White House that does not like capitalism and makes no bones about it. They like social programs and we have seen the result in the last 7 years. No industry for Jackson.
3. We have a local government body that appears to be incompetent more than corrupt.
4. Article today on Drudge states existing home sales are down for August by 7%. We have never even come close to regaining the market pre recession.
5. Our infrastructure (pipes, roads, schools) are decaying faster than they can be fixed.
6. The tax base gets smaller every year and as NEJ moves out it creates an even bigger hole in the budget since that is where the property taxes are highest.
7. The new city budget cuts police services funding by $500,000.

We need a miracle worker, not a mayor

@9:29
@1:23

What do you accomplish by saying bad things about the city?
What does anyone do by saying bad things? People who "move out" and go to Madison aren't getting away from the problem, they are fueling their own problem.
Run for mayor of you don't like him.
Run for president if you don't like him.

Just stop with the negativity and the talking down. All you are doing is hurting yourself.
If you have a problem with a backwards system, please, please leave mississippi. Jackson is the Capitol. Help make it better.
Bonding together to build LeFleur East is a great thing. You didn't say anything about that.

I believe the majority of residents of Jackson on are happy with the way the city is run, crime rates, schools, water rates, sewage leaks, blighted streets/houses, high business taxes, and cheap crime infested housing. They have to be satisfied, as the "Majority" of voters keep electing the same officials over and over. Those verbal few that want change, want the "burbs" to bail them out. Get real, that will NEVER happen. Those from Jackson that choose to live in a safe area, with excellent schools and respectable taxes; they also pay a sizable rent or purchase price to do so. They also obey the laws, respect the privacy of their neighbors, don't live like slobs or operate flop houses for relatives. If they don't, there's quick arrests with strong penalties/convictions, quick evictions and of course the ever ready Castle Doctrine. If they still choose to hang with a rough Jackson crowd, chances are they'll be dead, a vegetable or in jail (prosecuted by Madison and Rankin County DA's) by the time they're 25, so it's sort of a self cleaning affect anyway. Listen up Jackson, you don't have to change, just don't expect any other city to follow your way of thinking or doing business.

I have to agree with stopping the Jackson bashing. You who are doing the bashing are so repetitive that you are close to destroying this blog. You lump all Jacksonians together and it comes across as being racists under the guise of "Majority", crime-ridden, bad government, etc. If you don't have constructive criticism, keep it to yourselves. You do not seek to edify; you seek to tear down because the majority of Jacksonians are black. Many things happened to get Jackson to where it is now and many of those things were created by whites who later left the mess they had created. Drugs also happened. Since 2008 we have had Federal problems that certainly have done a job on Jackson. The suburbanites cheered and helped elect Frank Melton who alone did more to destroy the fiber of the City than anyone before him or anyone since. Most of the consent decrees are directly traceable to his tenure. We have had K. Stokes for so many years it makes you sick, yet nothing can be done to get rid of him as no one wants to live in Ward 3 and run against him. Ward 3 qualifies as Rush's "low information" voters (translate poorly educated blacks and white trash). Offer us some suggestions as to how to rebuild Mississippi's Capitol City. We need help and we are not too proud to admit it. And, while I'm at it, I wish all of you would quit salving your consciences by giving money to beggers standing on MDOT rights-of-way. They make between $300 and $400/day and just don't need your money. Better to send a check to the Salvation Army or Operation Shoestring. If you see them step off the curb or run in between cars and lanes, please call 601-960-1234. Such behavior is illegal and can be stopped.

Madison Flowood & Ridge grew because the Rez got silted up & over-developed (Lost Bunny). Now the commercial real estate is limping along with tourism tax help. The legislature needs to re-do the Rez statutes and create municipalities up there. The Rez has a generation before it fills up with silt anyway.

Anonymous said...

With the exception of a very small pocket of Ridgeland west of the Interstate, I don't think you can lump it together with Madison or Flowood. The majority of Ridgeland resembles Jackson more so every day.

Anonymous said...

You who are doing the bashing are so repetitive that you are close to destroying this blog.

Exaggerate much?

Most of the consent decrees are directly traceable to his tenure.

Which ones?

@10:34 PM Chief Cadet Ben's expert from Detroit advised everyone at the last TeamJacksonGabathon not to sweat the homeless beggars. Nobody, of course, told him that the person who has been hounding Jackson's homeless the longest and most aggressively is none other than Chief Cadet Ben Allen himself.

Anonymous said...

10:34- I understand your comments. How can anyone help. Suggestions from outside local municipalities and potential expanding business are continually met with accusations of racism, not considering the "under-served" population or being questioned as having an ulterior motive. This is proven time and again by the hiring and election practices of the City and County. If an entity continually hands out free food assistance, dirt cheap housing, free medical care, free child care, free school meals, free school supplies, free uniforms, free utilities (with no penalties), what can you expect? If it's taken away, somebody pulls the race card and cries "I'm entitled." Nobody in the city wishes to take responsibility for their actions. They want to live and act their way, even though the vast majority of the area has moved on (or out) and quit making excuses for themselves.

Anonymous said...

So you bleeding hearts will know...yes, many of us that comment on this blog do live inside the Jackson city limits and pay city property taxes. We also pay the exorbitant water bills we are now getting. And we drive by the schools that our tax dollars pay for but we cannot use if we want our children to read and write. Yes we live here. And this blog provides the once place we can rant about things we cannot fix no matter how much we would like to. You cannot fix what the majority see as acceptable. Especially when the majority is not footing the bill.

@10:34 the fundamental event that has led to the eventual destabilization of Jackson occurred during the late 1960's when the social engineers in the federal courts mandated school desegregation in such a manner that it was doomed for failure. They destabilized public schools and neighborhoods and the rest is history.

Anonymous said...

@ 3:16
I can imagine how you feel. It's so easy to say, "just move." When you've invested money, time, memories and more, it's not always easy or possible to just pack up. I hope the future holds good things for you.

Anonymous said...

Who won the gift cards? The odds must have been great considering how sparse the attendance.

Anonymous said...

Agree with 4:52. School desegregation done in a hasty and ill-advised manner did more to destroy Jackson than anything else has. Drugs are a close second. Also, the Supreme Court's letting so many, who need mental health care and drugs to lead more normal lives, out of institutions where they were safe and out of the weather. Our attitude toward mental health nationwide is insufficient.

One of the Consent Decrees that directly resulted from Frank Melton is the one with HUD. The current Wastewater one could possibly have been prevented if Mayor Melton had applied for Stimulus money for sewers. He did not.

Anonymous said...

The real question is can you use the gift cards to pay for pothole repairs funded by LeFleur East. Makes the double taxation sting less I imagine.

Anonymous said...

8:28- the gift cards were to pay for the Higland Village commercial that the trapped audience was subjected to.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
