Nosef fires back

Mississippi GOP Chairman Joe Nosef issued this statement after the Central Mississippi Tea Party called for his resignation:

Anyone who has paid close attention to our US senate primary knows that I've not only stayed neutral with regard to the candidates but also worked relentlessly against efforts to divide our party. I continue to receive encouragement in this effort to promote unity from our GOP elected officials, voters across the state, members of both campaigns, as well as very active, long-term tea party members. I also appreciate the good people across our state who make up the lifeblood of the tea party and have enjoyed working with them for years. I am grateful for their support. I have a great working relationship with them in all corners of our state and look forward to working together in this year's campaigns and into the future.

Is he trying to convince himself?

Perhaps Nosef doesn't realize that for the Tea Party , if you aren't with them and their chosen candidate, you are against them.

Neutrality is not recognizable to zealots. Objective and no-brainer observations that don't favor a Tea Party candidate aren't allowed.

Perhaps it's past time for the Tea Party to stop pretending they are Republicans and admit they just want to destroy the party and replace it with their own extremist ideologies.

They have about as much respect for the GOP as Putin's troublemakers in the Ukraine have for Ukrainians.

Unlike Putin's thugs, they lack any clear leadership or direction so all they do , once in office is destroy the good with the bad and create chaos and division.

At least Donkeycrats tell you in advance that they plan to screw you over. You'll never receive anything close to that disclosure from Haley.

Anonymous said...

Zealots. Yep. They stand for economic freedom, personal freedom & a debt-free future. Completely radical & out of the mainstream.

Haley Barbour is the best Governor this state has ever had. Deal with it.

@9:55 Yes he was...and ended his time in office being the biggest disappointment for pardoning as many people, (200), as some presidents and worst of all pardoning 4 murderers of women and buying 2 of them cars. I know a lot of good people but sometimes they do something so sickening that they can never be forgiven and their actions will never be forgotten.

Anonymous said...

9:39 - you are so right and have expressed it well. No need to expand on your comments. Just too bad that most in the Tea Party will read over your comments and keep on doing what they can to insure that Democrats continue to run our country.

11:04 - y'all need to get over the pardon issue, or at least recognize it for what it actually was not what the deamonizers have turned it into. 98% of those 200 were individuals that had served their time and had been out of prison for years - many of them decades. I have no problem with pardoning those folks that were convicted of minor drug offenses, served their time, and were responsible citizens since being released getting a second chance.

Does Mississippi need to do away with the "trustee system" at the Mansion? Absolutely. The tradition of pardoning those trustees was as bad a concept as the servitude system.

I just am not willing to ignore the eight years of conservative governance over less than a dozen pardons that I have absolutely no knowledge of the specifics other than what I hear spewed over talk radio. I do, though, respect the concept taught me through my religion of 'second chance' redemption.

The only zealots here is the current regime squatting in the whitehouse. Since taking office this president has proposed 422 separate new tax scams on the American people. 422..

I can't wait until Thad beats McDaniel like an unwanted stepchild. Perhaps then the Tea Party will stop their incessant yammering. The Tea Party will never have broad appeal. It's nothing more than a coalition of people so far right they make the crowd at sites like Free Republic look like moderate Dems.

Oh yea yea, Haley was just a great fabulous wonderful terrific exceptional governor, oh yea yea, great, was just great, wonderful fabulous magnificent exceptional...

Maybe, da pipe talketh???

[and] Thad hasn't done a damn thing to stop him.

Thad Cochran has voted 11 times in the last 24 years to increase the debt ceiling by a total of $7.7 trillion. Every child born today in Mississippi inherits a $53,000 share of the national debt.

But we Mississippians can't talk about the debt. Because Thad, you see, brings so much money to Mississippi. We are #1 in the country in addiction to federal dollars. And the GOP power brokers in this state want to keep it that way.

Paying down the debt? That's for other states. We're poor, stupid Mississippians, with our begging bowls held out to the rest of the country.

And the Tea Party? Radical zealots.

@11:39 Here are the "specifics"...David Glenn Gatlin: In 1993 Gaitlin reportedly drove nine hours to shoot and kill his estranged wife, Tammy Gaitlin, while she held their infant son, reports the Jackson Free Press. He also shot her friend Randy Walker, who survived. Although pardoned and released, the district attorney for the county in which he committed the murder told NBC affiliate WLBT yesterday that he does not believe Gatlin completed the constitutionally mandated requirement that he give 30 days public notice that he was seeking a pardon.

Anthony McCray: Convicted of killing his wife, Jennifer McCray, in 2001. According to the Associate Press, the two had reportedly been arguing at a cafe. He left, returned, and shot her once in the back. CNN reports that McCray was granted a full pardon and has been released.

To be fair, we include Patricia L. Simpson, who shot and killed her husband, Donald Simpson, in 2003, reports Fox affiliate WALA. Simpson served just three years before she was pardoned.

Pardoned in 2008:

Bobby Hays Clark: Convicted of manslaughter for shooting and killing his former girlfriend, Veronica Conner, reports the Jackson Free Press.

Paul Joseph Warnock: Murdered his girlfriend, 18-year-old Carol Ann Hall in 1989. According to the Jackson Clarion-Ledger, Warnock shot Hall in the back of the head while she slept.

Michael Davie Graham: Stalked his ex-wife, Adrienne Klasky, for three years before he finally shot her to death with a 12-gauge shotgun while she waited at a traffic light in her car in 1989, reports the Biloxi Sun Herald.

Clarence Jones: Murdered his ex-girlfriend, 22-year-old Carla M. Smith, in 1992. According to the Jackson Free Press, Smith had filed multiple assault and trespassing charges against Jones before her death. Jones waited for her in her apartment on New Year's Day and killed her by stabbing her 22 times, reported the Vicksburg Post.

Victor C. Collins: Convicted of fatally beating his girlfriend, Peggy Campbell, with a tree branch in 1994. According to the Sun Herald newspaper, Campbell's body was found in a pile of leaves.

Jimmy Lee Avera: According to the Sun Herald, in 1992 Avera shot and killed his estranged girlfriend, Tabitha Ann Sparks, 24, while she was pregnant, and while her two children were at home with her. He fired 11 shots at her, including one in the back as she tried to run away. Avera had been granted parole before Barbour pardoned him in 2008.

Haley is the dealer, Thad is the pusher and the nimrods like Harper, Henry, Lange, Corder, Perry, etc don't want the drugs to stop flowing. Those visionaries don't care if and when the country goes belly-up broke as long as Mississippi remains highly sedated with the Federal dope along the way.

12:19-Thanks for posting. I had no idea how many killers our past embarrassment of a Governor pardoned nor how heinous the crimes were. What kind of monster would free these people and buy cars for some! Frickin sic!!!

All right, this post is getting hijacked. I approved these comments. Now get back on track.

We have to remind ourselves, Joe Nosef is not getting paid!

@April 15, 2014 at 1:02 PM--well said.

I'm voting against Cochran. He may win, he may loose. But at the end of the day, I will know I did not vote to put that man back in DC to continue on with the same old crud.

Anonymous said...

um, just what is it Haley is running for? I can't seem to find out.....

Anonymous said...

We have to remind ourselves, Joe Nosef is not getting paid!

And we're getting what we pay for. Zilch.

Anonymous said...

Haley Barbour is the BEST Governor we have ever had. Period. Deal with it.

Anonymous said...

He may loose??? What does that mean???

Anonymous said...

@2:11 Haley is an idiot, a turncoat RHINO who betrayed his state and his party...deal with that!

Anonymous said...

Does he have any ties to Frontier and the Barbour/Lott/Wicker cabal that is pushing Thad on the MS GOP?

Anonymous said...

Nosef may not be getting paid, but he sure is getting reimbursed for travel - no wonder the party is broke!

Anonymous said...

Haley is the BEST Governor ever. Take away the pardons = best. BEST.

Kingfish said...

No more Haley comments. Stick to subject of post.

Let's do stay focused. Nosef is not only a bad chairman but a goofball to boot. And if you think he's doing this for free, think again. He and his law firm are getting sweet finance deals left and right. I hope McDaniel wins and then loses to Childers. It would be bad for the country but we'd get rid of all these kids hopefully.

The more Thad's camp tries to sling mud on Daniels... the more I want to vote for Daniels.

And I can't STAND pretty boy, hypocritical trial lawyers.

The only thing worse is entitled, bought-and-paid-for senators who've come to believe the office is theirs, not the people's. And who do whatever their hidden handlers tell them to. I suppose this behavior is understandable when one has been in WA since middle aged folks like me were born.

IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE - the one the voters choose, not the one that Thad's handlers will visit upon us after the election, without even the courtesy of a vote.

I'm not a tea-partier, but I'm beginning to understand why they're so pissed off.

Anonymous said...

I agree with everything 10:24 has said. The longer the election drags on, the more disappointed I become in Thad Cochran, who either approves of the behavior of those around him or is too out of it to see what is going on.

Anonymous said...

The cost of travel for Nosef has been a discussion inside the party for some time, he just doesn't get it.

That worn and tired URF speech he gives is a joke, in fact he is a joke!

I am not politically active or affiliated. I don't watch that much TV so I don't claim to be up to date on all the ads that are out there. I am however amused at the way that the Thad camp has been campaigning so far in the ads that I have seen.

I haven't seen one ad where Thad says anything about why he should be re-elected. Everything seems to geared towards why McDaniel shouldn't. Seems a bit curious to me that after all the time that he has spent in office that he wouldn't want to run on his record. Seems to me that he keeps saying, in effect, "I may be bad, but McDaniel is worse." Almost as if he chooses to cast the election as the choice between the lesser of two evils. Personally, I would rather be for something or someone.

Just a thought from the cheap seats, but is is a curiosity to me.

Anonymous said...

I have recently switched from Cochran to McDaniel. We just need a change for our party to stay together.

Anonymous said...

I'm with 10:24.

Saw the ad on TV and immediately told my family that I won't be voting for Cochran this time. They asked why, and my response is that if someone has to run that sort of an ad against an individual of the same party, that is flat out lying in obfuscated form, evidenced by the same ad, then Cochran deserves no support from me.

Money and obfuscation is what wins elections and that's why our country is in the state it is in right now. I refuse to contribute.

8:05 and the rest of you bogus piler oners. Thad 65-35. Save this post and read it and weep. McDaniel is an empty, bogus suit.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
