Search is still on for Abigail Bonner.

Update on the Abigail Bonner case.  Tracy Armbruster interviewed the parents on WJTV:

While WLBT reported Madison PD changed the case from possible kidnapping to a runaway:

"According to a press release from the police department, information has led officials to believe that Abigail Grace Bonner "left home of her own free will and may be in the New York City area."

Abigail's family has filed a runaway report and Preliminary Order of Custody has been issued by the Madison County Youth Court, according to MPD.

Abigail was last seen at her house in Madison Saturday morning between 7 and 8." Rest of article and video. Here is a Madison Press release:

I assumed this was going to be a 'new' interview. It's the same one that was aired days ago. This woman is beyond bizarre. She describes her adult daughter as 'pursuing some of her interests, like CARD MAKING'. So, the girl has never had a car, doesn't drive, has no cell phone, no money, is home schooled and her interests include making cards on the computer? That might be the fleeting interest of a seven year old.

The parents KNEW she was not kidnapped from the get go. They KNEW she escaped the environment they've saddled these six kids with. And the mother says (in an almost slurred and unemotional voice) "I just pray nobody has taken her".

Based on where the dots are taking us, it's my bet the parent(s) monitored every computer keystroke of these children but failed to catch this one corresponding with someone who arranged to drop by and aide in her escape.

The Madison Police Department has spent quite enough time chasing ribbons blowing in the wind on this one.

DAMN 5:56 I dont know what to say to that except....I agree!

Anonymous said...

What a bizarre comment.

No matter what the circumstances are (runaway or missing person), hope the girl is safe.

Anonymous said...

I'm hoping she did not connect with a predator on the computer who aided her escape for his own purposes.

I would hope the MPD would , at the very least, check out the computer.

This reinforces my concern that a weakness in " home schooling" is that the children of parents who are abusive, neglectful or just plain nuts become isolated from those who could help them.

Anonymous said...

This is not the time to analyze the parents or the family dynamics. She's apparently not wise to the ways of the world, but she's 17 and needs to be found and her safety ensured.

Anonymous said...

Find the girl, then figure out why she left.

Anonymous said...

I srongly agree with 10:17 am amd 10:44 am about the priority in this case.

I would point out that analyzing the family dynamics and parents is not without merit and I hope the police are doing just that as well!

Unfortunately, not all children who disappear run away or are abducted by strangers. And, why they run when they do, can be key in finding and helping them.

Anonymous said...

I agree with several statements made above. I do not think she was abducted, sounds like she "ran away". Who she ran with is where this situation could be dangerous. She still needs to be found. She is still a minor. MPD needs to follow every lead and look into every bit of family info they have privy to. This girl is from all accounts naive to the world. She has fallen victim most likely to someone she has connected with on the net. Let this be a warning to parents, know who your child is friends with, talk to your child and most importantly, LISTEN to them. I pray God is watching over this girl and she will be located.

Once again, Connecting The Dots sees this situation for what it is. This girl does not live the normal 17 yr old life. In addition to all the other things such as no phone, etc. She does not even dress like teenage. If you look at every picture of her, she is wearing a long skirt(even at Disney World) and matronly longing attire. When she left, her mom said she was wearing a long sleeve black shirt and long black skirt(or pants.) Most girls her age would be wearing shorts and tank top on a hot Sat. morn. She escaped to find a life outside her prison and God forbid, she found it with the wrong person. These holier than thou parents really irritate me. I have not seen the first tear. I was hysterical when my dog went missing and I would have to be sedated if it was my granddaughter. Waiting for the truth.

Kingfish said...

and why is she so naive? Maybe thats something worth thinking about.

Connecting The Dots said...

May be news to some of you, but a thorough police investigation will ALWAYS analyze the totality of evidence obtained in order to size up the situation and form a theory as to why she left, including where she might have gone. And that includes an assessment of this mother's behavior, elusive demeanor and flippant appearance when she says things like, "Oh, I hope nobody has taken her."

Of course we ALL hope the girl is safe. That goes without saying. Exploring the mentality of the parent(s) is essential in this case and may well lead to a quicker resolution. The news stated days ago that the police had seized the computer the girl used. I hope that means they have taken ALL the computers available at the home. Nothing at all bizarre about my initial comment. Television interviews with the parents, the time spent locally, posting pictures all over Ridgeland....based on an analysis of the family dynamics and assessment of the facts known at this time....tells anybody with half a wit of sense, that all of that time and work has been in vain. An in depth interview with the parents, one in particular, off site, taking at least four hours, by professionals, would have saved at least three days of farting around.

I suspected this the instant I first heard about it, and was incensed that Queen Mary authorized a helicopter search (nb: I am a Madison taxpayer).

A 17 year old high school graduate (or, in her case, the home-schooling equivalent) who disappears without any sign of forced entry, violence, a ransom note, etc, is a runaway until proven otherwise.

When you hear hoofbeats behind you, expect to see a horse when you turn around, not a zebra. This is Madison, not the Serengheti.

I feel bad for her parents, but this is a family matter unless something unexpected pops up.

Anonymous said...

They are either Pentecostal, or the girl's family has issues and they clothe her that way for a reason.

With the parents so flippant about this, I suspect this isn't the first problem with this girl.

Anonymous said...

I have never seen a group of self righteous people as I have seen above. I girl is abnormal because she doest have a 500 IPhone, shorts that show her goods and a new BMW. The parents are religious nuts who restrict all their childrens life and really don't care. It great that you wonderful people can understand the dynamics of a family by watching 5 minutes of them on the news. Hopefully MHP will send the parents to Gucci Parenting school and they will go ahead and order the Iphone 10 with extra bling so you people will then call them normal.

Nowhere quite like Jackson Jambalaya to get raw perspective on a current event. Since Abigail went missing, I've had moments where I thought like each of the differing commenters above. If she's a runaway it's certainly tempting to blame her parents, but let's not forget she is a minor and the less worldly-wise she is, the more vulnerable she may be. Whether she left freely or was abducted, I pray for her safe return.

Anonymous said...

I don't see a problem with the mayor authorizing (although she's not the one to do that) use of a helicopter to search the area. Had that not been done, imagine the hootin' and hollerin' that would have ensued.

Oh, by the way, screw you 4:13; the only self righteousness I see is coming from YOU!

How ya gonna keep em down on the farm, once they've seen NYC?

Certainly hope the young lady is safe and that her parents' anxiety is relieved.

Anonymous said...

I spoke to someone who lives near them and it is worse than we thought......They are Baptist.

Anonymous said...

They are NOT Baptist, 5:30, but nice attempt at humor. If you've read the other thread on here about this subject, you'll find quotes from the family minister/priest.

Besides, how could one know by 'living near them' that they are of one religion or another?

Anonymous said...

even worse.....he works at Butler,Snow..could they get any worse.

Well then you've never read the JFP nor been to a Hinds County BOS meeting and watched "the dispatcher".

How much would you like to wager that your "ALWAYS" doesn't apply in Jackustan?

He's not a lawyer, he's the firm administrator at Butler Snow. Just what difffence does it make who his employer is anyway?

She went to NYC this spring with her church. She met some guy there and she ran away to,the big city. That, or she has never left town.

IMO

They're not Baptist, they're Presbyterian (PCA). Many kids go through stuff, keep things to themselves, and deal with depression and try to escape from their life in one way or another. It has nothing to do with the fact that she was homeschooled. I'm not saying a little more socialization wouldn't have been good for their kids development, but they don't have to adhere to what society says is the 'norm'. Lay off and stop criticizing parents who appear to have done a decent job overall. As for someone commenting on the mother's 'flippant' attitude- its called shock.

Ah, 6:22; Operative word - Thorough. Pay attention.

Extra points for working Jackustan into a totally unrelated thread. Stop by te Madison Chamber a pick up your nickel.

People of all denominations or non-denominations are still people. It only takes one issue to get people making fun of a religion. At the end of the day, we are all human, and we all have problems. I hope no one on this thread that is condemning this family based on a few days of very unrevealing articles ever has a wayward child. We homeschooled for a year, and we saw a lot of rigid, cultish legalism, but we also saw a lot of normal, cool people choosing to homeschool their children because they believed they could do a better job than the "institutions" could (and many of them were probably right). IF there is a family issue that comes to light, my hope is that people won't jump on the bandwagon of assuming all people who homeschool or are certain denominations are crazy. It's just not true. The key issue is knowing that Abigail Bonner is safe.

This has been like reading a mystery novel (a genre I generally don't much like, unless it's one of Dorothy Sayers' Lord Peter Wimsey ones, that at least assume a certain degree of literary/historical knowlegde)...the red herrings and wild guesses, in this Bonner scare, are truly "bizarre," as someone said, *supra*. The family's religion? The fact that they home-school? The paterfamilias' employment details??? What on earth can scrutinizing these details accomplish? It's just babble, as this site can be wayyyyy too full of, oftentimes.

Yes, I could say that if I had five Presbyterian/Baptist/Pentecostal siblings, force-fed home-schooling, denied ordinary teen possessions, and made to wear dowdy Amish clothes, I'd sure-as-shootin' hit the road---but that would be projecting MY bias. Would be of zero help in finding a missing child.

This article from the Madison Co Journal includes some even weirder quotes by her father:
http://onlinemadison.com/main.asp?SectionID=1&SubSectionID=1&ArticleID=26995

"Her sisters and brother and parents and grandparents want to be back in fellowship with her"
In fellowship with her???

What does this father-nut-case actually do as COO of Butler Snow? Typically a COO knows the business inside and out, calls the operational shots and makes hiring and retention decisions, among many other things.

I wonder how the 'fellow-shipping' is going up in the BS Tower at The Colony.

Anonymous said...

I am sure everyone who is critical of the family is a wonderful parent and citizen and without fault. Its easy to say bizarre things when you are anonymous.

Anonymous said...

I detest the BS firm as much as any right-thinking lawyer, but I'm really not getting what the dad's job has to do with anything. Sounds like it's the most normal thing about this family.

Anonymous said...

I think the people who are critical of the parents based on a 30 second tv spot or because the father used the word "fellowship" are certainly insecure with their religious beliefs. That being said I think it is strange that more developments haven't come out. I wonder if Madison PD is up to the task as they usually only handle traffic violations or is this like the mona biddy cases years ago. Its strange to me that at this point more isn't publically known.

Anonymous said...

I am such a dumbass. I had been thinking she wasn't smiling in any of the poster photos because she had bad teeth. Makes more sense now that I read about the clothes, fellowship, etc.

Anonymous said...

This has turned into the most bizarre thread. It's about a missing/runaway.

Instead of hoping everyone is ok, its turned into piles of trash.

Disappointed and just plain dumbfounded.

Anonymous said...

Do any of the asshat posters feel any guilt? How about shame?

Anonymous said...

it's so tragic that this child may have felt that death was her only way out...my heart aches for her and for what her life could have been had she been allowed to go to school and college. hopefully, this will wake the parents up about the other children in the house and maybe they can start leading more normal lives and avoid a tragic end such as this. Kids just can't be caged up like animals in the name of religion. they need to experience life, the good and the bad. that's how they grow up. i'm sorry for the people who truly loved her but not for those who just wanted to control her. people that have such a low opinion of children and women should maybe examine their own consciences because it just doesn't seem right.

Anonymous said...

@9:27 pm, that is a ridiculous thing to say. The coroner hasn't released anything, and you don't know the cause of death. NONE of this speculation will help heal the family. Just because their ideals don't line up with yours does not mean their child took her life. She may have been very happy in her lifestyle. Maybe you should be examining your own thoughts and methodologies. Get over yourselves and learn to think beyond your own "norm".

I still dont understand why the parents think she ran away if she didnt take any of her belongings? If I was going to rhn away and had no money I would take as many belongings as possible. And if she wasnt acting any differently or unhappy why would you assume she ran away?

What an idiot you are! It is this 1970s mentality that has botched THOUSANDS of missing persons cases. I PRAY your loved one never go missing and have to endure the police considering it "just a runaway". SMH. You're a piece of work.

Is there a list of those "thousands" you claim were abducted? Somewhere we can verify your statement?

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
