Harper throws Rush off the floor

Congressman Gregg Harper threw fellow Congressman and former Black Panther Bobby Rush off of the floor of the House yesterday. Congressman Harper said he violated the rules against wearing hats by wearing a "hoodie". Watch for yourself:

That would be Gregg.

Gregg gets to wield the gavel and has to put up with a half-wit in a hoodie.

My take on this-Harper seemed a little uncomfortable because (1)he is a good guy with character and integrity and respect for people(I met him several years back and thought he was just a nice guy-didn't know who he was-and by the way I am a nobody-found out later who he was-we talked about our favorite places to eat in Rankin county(where I live). (2)Harper's respect for the Bible which the Rep. was quoting, albeit out of context. It is time that the political correct agenda in Sanford, FL be called what it is. I am tired of seeing this crap on the news every day. The justice system has not completed its course but if the political agenda doesn't stop there will be no way for the justice system to serve its purpose. Shut up, show some class and go back to work? and you better know that Rev. Al and Rev. Jesse will milk this for airtime and dollars until something better comes along.

Yes, decorum is very important. One should not, for example, scream "you lie" at the president during a speech.

Thank you, Congressman, for simply handling this distraction in this manner and getting back to work.

I agree with 9:10. Gregg handled a an embarrassment to Illinois in a professional manner.

Our current President has lied more often, more consistently, and with greater ease than any President in my memory (and I'm not young).
He has preached decorum out of one side of his mouth, while trashing anybody that opposes him out of the other side of his mouth.
It is pathetically laughable whenever a Democrat makes statements like yours.

Good for Mr Harper.

my gawd ya'll! AT LAST! Someone that isn't afraid to stand up to those buffoons acting like buffoons! by the way, did anyone else see that "congress woman" later being interviewed about that thug in Fla getting wacked and what she was wearing? The circus must have been in town and there was a 1/2 sale on used circus costumes!

It's also pathetically laughable to justify heckling, particulary heckling a President of the United States who is giving The State of the Union address to a group that should be expected to behave in a civlilized manner.

It is NOT justifiable, no matter who the President may be.

And, if it were acceptable to rudely interrupt every President who has told a lie, few Presidents would ever complete a sentence!

There are rules of decorum for a reason . Some people are too immature or mentally unstable or lacking in manners to control their emotions so we have rules to guide them.

I suspect Rep Rush knew full well he'd be escorted out for breaching decorum and would get the publicity he likely sought.

I don't object at all to Rep Harper applying the rules, but had he not, this little stunt might have been overlooked or else just looked like one of many donning a hoodie to express themselves especially if his words were less than eloquent... which they likely would have been.

Grown ups donning hoodies is one of the most foolish decisions I've witnessed. They've given a ridiculous fad ( that I'm sure most of them cringe over their children wearing) a huge boost and will regret it. They might as well have all gotten tattoos too and pulled out a deck of cards to play Texas Hold 'Em or started rapping.

The incident in Fla. should be investigated given the tape and the poor decision to " play cop".

I wish ADULTS would just STOP emoting over EVERYTHING. It's a BAD EXAMPLE to set. It's just, in the end, WHINY.

Calmly offer a solution or alternative or make a reasonable request and then shut up. That's what people who wear big boy or big girl panties do.

I think Rep. Rush and Rep. Wilson both broke the rules of decorum. Rep. Rush just happened to do it at a time when another member was in the Speaker's chair. Rep. Harper knew it was wrong and declared him out of order, just like he would have anyone else regardless of the subject matter being discussed. President Obama chose not to respond to Rep. Wilson's breach of decorum, but I believe that had Rep. Wilson's outburst occurred when Rep. Harper or another member was in the chair that he would have been declared out of order just like Rep. Rush was.

Are you cutting and pasting your post from FB to here?

Has anyone been to Florida this time of year? Not sure I'd be wearing a hoodie this time of year; its warm outside.

Don Young (R AK) wore a propeller topped beanie. Same? Different?

Can't we all just have a beer summit?

Beer is good....and wear your beanie.

It was not President Obama's place to have Rep. Wilson escorted from the chamber.

I hope Rep. Harper would have done so. It is much more effective for a person of the same party to deal " with their own".

Nevertheless, Rep. Wilson hung himself on his own petard. He let everyone with any social graces know he has none.

Civilized behavior seems out of vogue and I would suggest that it starts with self, not with others.

LMAO. You expect people to take that paragraph seriously while your shouting in CAPS?

Pathetically ... laughable.

Show some decorum. Thank you Gregg.

6:16 pm...sorry...old...caps to me are for emphasis...have a hard time remembering you youngun's have decided it's shouting .

The only time I've ever shouted is cheering at games and to call children to come in from playing outside.

I've never found it necessary to raise my voice to be heard.

Just as Clinton redefined the office of the presidency, Obama redefined the State of The Union Address when he publicly rebuked the Supreme Court, something which decorum and practice have never allowed. While it may be in poor taste to shout during the address, it's lot a rules violation. Wearing a hat (hoodie) is a rule violation.

This Rush goon, Sheila Jackson Lee, Maximum Waters, the rep from Alabama who assaulted the house policeman, Alcee Hastings, the ever-idiotic Chuckie Rangel, Cool-Cash Jefferson, and others have dumbed down the respectable venues of both House and Senate.

As in all of society, 'the way to get ourselves respected as normal is to dumb everything else down'.

Shadow... a rather selective list..I find the bad behaviors on both sides of the aisle a bit more balanced but I agree with your last sentence.

From Bill Buckley to Rush Limbaugh and from Tip O'Neill to Nancy Pelosi in just a couple of decades ( and I could go in both parties) signals a horrendous decline. Just thinking about the change in the substance of the Presidential debates is enough to make one depressed as well. From Lincoln and Douglas to Kennedy and Nixon former candidates and Presidents are probably rolling in their
graves.

rush reminds me of Ozzie. bet they used the same pharmaceuticals

hmmmmm...black thugs wearing hoodies... clan wearing hoodies...hmmmm...

It seems that the news media used OLD photographs of the two involved, why not show them as they are now, not pictures from several years ago. It is a tragic thing, what happens in Florida should stay in Florida. We have enough of our own in Mississippi.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
