Psycho arrested by Feds was once a drug-plantin' cop.

Raymond Ethan Thomas. Impersonator extraordinaire. WAPT reported:

"A man wanted in Texas and who is accused of impersonating a government official was arrested in Madison by U.S. marshals, federal officials said.

Raymond Ethan Thomas, 34, had a warrant for his arrest in Travis County, Texas. Marshals said they found out Thomas was at a home in the Reunion neighborhood in Madison. They were able to get him to surrender without incident." Article with video included.

Now for the REST of the story. The anchor mentions at the end of the report he served 13 months for perjury. Old issues of the Starkville Daily News reveal the story behind his conviction (Articles posted below.).

Mr. Thomas was once a police officer with the Senatobia police department. He was a student at Mississippi State while on leave from the department. He tried to re-join his fraternity but the committee handling the matter denied his reinstatement. Mr. Thomas didn't handle the news too well so he plotted a little bit of revenge against the chairman of the committee, a student named Aubrey Clay Holder.

Mr. Holder was stopped in February 1999 by Oktibbeha deputies after they received a tip he might have drugs in his car. A K-9 unit found a magnetic bag containing drugs (steroids, the date rape drug, marijuana, and cocaine) worth over $15,000. They arrested Mr. Holder and charged him with six counts of drug possession. Mr. Holder's nightmare ended in a few days when the police cleared him of all drug charges and arrested Mr. Thomas for planting the drugs on Mr. Holder's car. The Senatobia Police Department fired Mr. Thomas. Oktibehha charged Mr. Thomas with perjury, suborning perjury, and several counts of manufacturing a controlled substance. Apparently this nutjob did not learn anything from his experience.

Now you know the REST of the story.

King-fish.

Good DAY!

Clay's nickname was "Pot", in loveable reference to his gut.

The fraternity he was in put on a demonstration, when he was jailed, and sported signs and t-shirts that said "FREE POT", and chanted "free pot, free pot" over and over. They knew it was a set-up from the gitgo.

who is clay?
reminds me of a friend in oxford, played in bands on weekends for cash share of gate, changed the name often to get a good crowd: 'free beer', 'nude dancing', 'fast women' etc. stayed one step ahead of the kiddies at ole miss.

As long as the law allows the police to stop a vehicle based on bullshit "tips," uncorroborated by additional evidence, this will continue to happen.

The general public has no idea how vulnerable we all are to this type of set-up.

what a sad case of a conflicted kid. ethan is obviously the one screwed up on drugs for pulling a stunt like that. or he's just begging for attention to escape his pathetic life.

He is a bona fide piece of garbage. But, it is not entirely his fault. He had pretty terrible parents.

His mom tried to "befriend" my mom soon after my mom's divorce. She started calling on my mother at our house more frequently, just to "talk" and "relate", you know, be a friend. After about the third visit in so many weeks, she revealed the hard sale of whatever product she was pushing at the time.

As for Ethan, he brought a fiberglass knife to summer camp when we were 9 or so. Smuggled it in his duffle bag, and liked to brandish it. Knew he was a little unstable at that point.

clay Holder. Read story. Keep up.

Ethan is a psychopath and has been for years. He has been telling lies and living out fantasy life for years. From the theft of friends personal possessions to claiming to be injured in varies military and law enforcement missions, the guy is a wreck.

The people to feel sad for in this ordeal are his wife and child. She had no clue any of this was going on and is very scared right now.

Please remember people that the souls that appear on this website have real loving families out there that hurt with this news. It is understandable to want to drag down the people who make the headlines, but remember their families are victims too...

There is more to this story, I'm sure! Is he a theve or scam artist? Very nice house for not having a job!!! I heard he filed for bankruptcy and divorce. Does anyone know if true? How does he know so much about the drug lords of Mexico? He has con alot of people. His family needs to get him professional help. And yes I do feel sorry for them. But they should have stopped him long ago.

12:48 PM You are absolutely correct about the random "tips". How can the police allow anyone to call and make these accusations without evidence. A revenge tactic most of the time.

Aside, this is one of the Frazier's favored ploys. Be aware if you are in their sights for any reason.

Kingfish said...

No one is dragging this guy down. He did it to himself and apparently has a long history of crimes involving deceptions and misrepresntations. Making people aware of such history prevents others from becoming future victims. Usuallly when these guys get arrested, they concoct a story that sounds plausible and go on to deceive others.

Ethan coordinated a multi-county "sting" operation to frame Clay after he wasn't let back in to the fraternity. He had the Sunflower County and Oktibbeha County sheriff's deputies salivating over a huge "catch".

Ethan allegedly took the drugs that he framed Clay with from the contraband in his sheriff's department.

I don't know if this is true, but I heard from a reliable person that when he was arrested for the Holder issue, they found in his apartment a four-wheeler that he had previously claimed stolen, and collected insurance on.

Ethan is the lowest form of human I have had the agrivation of is trash talk, threats, derrogator comments for 6 months of him contacting me almost daily, with never have seeing or meeting him. He is one who preys on others taking advantage of their weaknesses, or as potraying himself as someome of authority, maybe something possible he had a chance to be Special Opts, Dept of Defense. I feel at this point in his life there is no helping this kid. I pray for the families he has surely caused problems for , his wife and child. I just hope and pray that justice will be served, seems to be in the best place for him, a place he can play his mind games with people in the penial system, sure some of them would love to play some games. DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS

Kingfish,

Thank you for putting this out there. Also, thank you for sticking with the clinical terms, "Psycho" and "Nutjob." Your astute insight into the human mind is a credit to yourself! ;)

Actually, having known this individual for his whole life, there is no doubt that he was deeply disturbed. This is no surprise. Those around him kept teaching him how to cover up his issues rather than how to seek help. At some point he learned how to hide this stuff from his poor wife (and new baby).

This is a dark peek inside mental health. What amazes me is that the state has no way of catching these types of narcissistic disorders among felons and former felons (fool me twice, shame on me). Just like in Arizona with the shooting of a congresswoman as well as at Virginia Tech, we have 20/20 retrospect. I think the lesson here is to love people generally, but to recognize when they need lots of help and to act on it. We need to be better aware of mental health profiles. Too many people are slipping through the cracks in reality.

Think about Charlie Sheen, who considers himself some type of God, with "Adonis DNA." There is a lesson here.

He should have been punished more harshly for what he did to Clay.

He has proven twice (that we know of) that he is not fit to walk with the rest of us on the outside of the prison walls.

I sincerely hope that he is punished severely and not allowed to harm anyone else.

Anonymous said...

I personally like the "psycho" and "nutjob" references. They are much more to the point than "mentally disturbed."

Anonymous said...

take some of these comments for what they are worth. I know that some are from drug addicted degenerates themselves.

6:31PM-- Please define the "some" which you refer to in your post. Are you speaking of the "some" that disagree or the "some" that raised the nutjobs?

There is still much more to the
story. all involved from different
sides are not angels. Ethan is bad,
so are others involved in recent developments.

Anonymous said...

It saddens me for his close friends and
family, some of whom have fallen victims to his betrayal and lies. Many people stayed far away from him knowing his past and some gave him a chance to redeem himself and be a better man. I am sure he may look and act big and "badazz" on the outside, but on the inside he had extremely low self esteem. These types of people look for acceptance in anyway, shape or form. Ethan had many sides to him. Some good and some very dark. I pray for his family, friends and child that one day, with good mental health, they will come to know the true person he is and hopefully it will be good.

I hardly see this as a mental health issue. And if it is, then what isn't? Everything everyone does is a product of their own mental state. You can call him sick and feel sorry for him if you choose, but what I see is evil, plain and simple.

I wonder how many lives he ruined during his tenure as a police officer.

This guy is, and always was, a shitheel. I knew as early as second grade, and was a classmate/friend when we were little kids.

We went to summer camp at the same place when we were little kids. As I said before, he brought a carbon or ceramic skinning knife to camp with him, and bragged about how he carried it on the plane with him and it didn't get picked up by the machine. This was in the mid 1980's, mind you, when we weren't older than 10.

He was always an ugly and manipulative individual, even at that time. When he had friends spend the night, he would always do something disquieting, like show the friends his dad's extensive gun collection or his creepy "library" where he many taxidermed animals. Or, show his big brother's extensive porn magazine collection, and then threaten to tell his mother that you were looking at them if you didn't want to play a certain game that he wanted to play. Keep in mind, I am talking about a time when we were 8-10 years old.

No doubt that his parents are at fault for giving him a poor environment to grow up in, but I agree with the poster above. At some point, you must own what your parents do to you and be better than that example. Many people have shitty home lives, and don't repeat that situation as adults.

It can't be stated strongly enough. This guy took extreme advantage of his position as a peace officer, and the only known story of screwing someone that's come to light is Clay Holder's.

How many poor, country Delta folks do you think he might have done something terrible to while he was a "deputy sheriff"? My guess is at least one.

Ethan Thomas is one of the least defensible people I can think of. Don't you think he had an opportunity to get mental health counseling while he was last in jail, by the way?

Ignoring mental health issues seems uneducated.

The implication for the mentally ill is not to somehow remove consequences. Maybe that is what you fear?

We should lock this guy up, for sure. He hurts other people, "plain and simple." However, unless you learn about mental health issues you get people saying things like "what I see is evil, plain and simple."

This only leads to he said / she said, and who has the best group on their side. The study of mental health is about patterns and predictions which make us a stronger community.

I am sure his family rejects the label "evil" and this might be why they couldn't identify the problem in the first place. If we get rid of the term "evil" and think in terms of mental health, we can identify problems and take appropriate action.

Taking this action, we will know why this guy cannot be on the streets, rather than simply resort to descriptions no more civilized as Ethan's actions. We have to be better people than that. Use your head for more than a hat rack..., as the saying goes.

All I want to know is why he did what he did re: meeting with TX law enforcement officials. Who were the "individuals" on whom Ethan requested the TX cops give him information?

In sum, what exactly was the scheme Ethan was up to with his bizarre impersonation scam? What was he trying to accomplish?

Well, I went to school with his brother Wes. As far as I know, he turned out just fine, so I don't think you can blame the parents here. The guy obviously has serious mental problems, the likes of which would not have been altered even if his parents had been the most perfect people in the world. There's no telling how many other people he's done harm to but I do know of at least one. I'm not going to use any names but my mother new him personally from when he used to sell cars and the guy filed a bogus law suit a few years later against a friend of hers who was a doctor. I can't remember exactly what happened but I think it was settled out of court. In any event, he got $$$$ for something that was total horse $hit and I'm sure that wasn't the first time. This guy is finally going to be where he belongs, in prison for a very long time. As I stated previously, no matter what his home life and his parents were like, he has siblings that are just fine and they grew up in the same enviornment. There's no cure for crazy! I feel badly for his family.

A person like this does need long term mental care. He's just as much a danger to society as a murderer is. The damage he causes people he attacks is for the rest of their lives..something they wrestle with on a daily basis. It's scary and it causes great pain. Perhaps after he is incarcerated for a long period and receives the mental therapy needed, then perhaps when he does get out he should have to register nationwide as a "con man" or something just like child molesters do. This would make the pubic aware that he has those horrible tendacies and then a person can choose whether to have anything to do with him or not. I agree with the statements that he has made these choices regardless of his upbringing. His family has probably suffered far greater than we know. But, it's time for him to be stopped. We all need to pray real hard on this one.

Anonymous,
Unfortunately, a person is not going to get any kind of mental help that they need inside the walls of a prison. I think thats been proven over and over again. You are correct though that he is just as much a danger to society as any other criminal. Being that mentally ill, he's also a danger to himself. I think it's a great idea for all convicted fellons to have to register as such, just like child molesters do. Sadly, I don't think there's any cure for those people who engage in that particular activity and unfortunately, if a person is truly whacko, like this guy appears to be, he probably will be for the remainder of his life. As I stated in my previous post, there's no cure for crazy! With all the information available on the internet today, you can just about google any name you want to check out and find out all you need to know about someone. In the future, the ability to use the internet as a resource for that purpose is only going to increase and become more prevalent. However, some sort of required registration system would make it a whole lot easier.

You can blur the lines between almost any felon's act as a "mental health issue". Ethan is mentally unstable but, as I said in an earlier post, he had an opportunity when he was in prison for his first conviction to begin to work through his mental problems.

I don't know for a fact that he didn't do so, but it obviously didn't take.

In the meantime, he's done damage to many other people.

Ethan is the perfect example of someone who cannot be rehabilitated, or at least has not demonstrated by his actions that he can be. Jail is where he belongs.

I wonder if you take this very liberal view of "mental health" vis a vis all persons committing crimes in the Jackson area. I bet that you don't, say, believe that teenage "thugs" who knock over a liquor store have "mental health issues" that should keep them away from jail.

Anonymous said...

I now see what you mean about not being able to rehabilitate someone such as Ethan. He did have a chance to change his life after the incident at MS State. It's sad to say that he does need to be kept away from the public and himself. We will just have to wait and see what the FBI does as a result of their investigation. I believe they are thorough and will make the best decision on what to do with him and others possibly involved. Let's pray that the ones charged with protecting the public's health, safety and welfare make the right decisions.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
