Let's have some fun.

Not in front of a tv right now but with the internet, who cares? ;-) Lets take a look.

Nunalee up by 60-30 with 3% in. Bennie up 60-40 with 2% in. We've all heard the rumblings about it being a real tight race today. Should be fun to watch. Harper down by 400 votes with 4% in. Taylor up 60-40 with 1% in. Weill up by 48-34 with 32% in. Burton has 14% of the vote. Of course I'm pulling for a runoff in some of these races. That means AD REVENUE and THAT is what is important. Gowan up 60-40 with 3% in. Madison County Court will not be coming for awhile as they are still voting thanks to some incompetent election commissioners.

Over in the House and Senate, Republicans kicking ass. Stay tuned.

8:27 PM 17% in and Nunalee is up by 15 over Childers. Could the tidal wave drown Childers? Harper is now up by 13 with 18% counted. Palazzo is ahead by 200 votes with 11% counted. These two will probably battle back and forth all night long. Palazzo peopls I spoke to today were very confident and said their turnout was better than expected. Nothing has changed in the local races. 15% in and Thompson is up by 15% with double the votes which gets him declared the winner. I picked him to win by ten. Just too many precincts for Republicans to overcome. Machines are machines for a reason.

9:15 PM. Bennie got this one. No surprise here. Half the vote in and he's up 15%. I know Republicans hoped for an upset but this one is a hard slog. Marcy didn't get much support, didn't live in the district until recently, and Bennie has a machine. District is tailored to re-elect him. 60% of the vote in and Harper up by twenty points. Gill didn't run much of a campaign and Harper has represented his district fairly well. Now on to the 4th district. 53% of the vote in and Palazzo up by 3. 2300 votes. There are a few rounds left in this fight. I predicted Taylor by 3 and damn, Louis XIV just decided to camp out on my chest for a few minutes. Got him moved. Palazzo people I spoke to said they expected their guy to win by 3. Nunalee is beating the hell out of Childers. I don't think anyone thought it would be this bad. Half the votes in and Nun is up by 14 points, 10,000 votes.

9:23 PM. Just got update from Palazzo camp. 62,975 to 59,978 Palazzo ahead. Damn, this SC Governor's race is much tighter than anyone thought it would be a few months ago. Just checked WAPT's site for Madison County Court. Bluntson ahead with 43% of the vote counted. Made some phone calls and found out the Canton precincts were counted first and several in Madison STILL have voters filling out ballots. Longwitz and Ratcliffe are separated by a couple of hundred votes. The Bennie turnout machine brought out the vote for Barbara. One wonders what will happen if she makes a runoff and no Congressional race is on the ballot. Hinds County Court race. 35% counted. Priester has 41%, Farmer has 23%.

9:30 PM. Childers coming back a little. 55% and Childers down by 11 but his actual deficit is now up to 13,000 votes. 65% in and Harper now has nearly doubled Gill's votes. No locals on the networks yet. Cuomo won? Help. Man who single-handedly ruined the housing industry more than did anyone else. 57% of the votes in and Weill is up by 15. Not a sure thing because Weill's district is actually 50/50 in terms of race. Damn. 30% in and Gowan is down by 2. Maybe that online poll on this site showing Harrison winning was accurate after all. Emfinger winning his race but so far is falling short of avoiding a runoff.

9:44 PM. Here is the Madison County elections reports someone sent in to me.

9:49 PM. Latest update on #4. Palazzo up 92,982-75,148. 55%. Damn. Might pull this off after all.

10:00 PM. Time for the local news. FINALLY. Kathryn Kite is at Bennie's crib. Bennie seems somewhat quiet in his interview. The Madison County report posted above shows Bennie pasted Marcy. Ouch. Hurt to look at it. Scott's at Harper's campaign looking rather Dapper. Harper looks happy. Just went to being in the majority in his own state and in Congress. Keith Plunkett right behind him on tv. Watch out for him folks. Might be a protege. DOWN GOES CHILDERS!!! The Nun is ahead 52-41 with 80% counted. He ran hard for this seat for more than a year. Stayed on message, took full advantage of the internet. I received an email update from his campaign every single day for at least six months. Smart. A SPORTSCASTER is running the campaign newsroom for WAPT? OOOOOOOOOOk. 75%, Bennie up by 20. Ouch. Stop the fight, please. Uh oh, Kim and Ronnie now making their analysis. No word if the Board of Realtors is outside protesting Kim's appearance.

Ronnie insists on talking with his hands. Looks and sounds wooden and might be ready to appear in some of the Christmas shows on TV. Would fit in great on Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer or Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Damn. Kim "Next election cycle, a permanent injunction will be issued". Sharply disagrees with Ronnie. Doesn't pull any punches. Huge contrast between the two. Ronnie looks very very sad, like he is about to cry, Kim is in serious mode, very professional. Can't see that weight my friend has put on on the tv either. Stephanie looks hot as always. Am now getting tweets the Board of Realtors are massing in riot gear so they can assault the station. Louis XIV has that "Daddy, its time for bed" look on his face. Delbert now discussing Madison problems. I'm sorry but this is not the FIRST, OR THE SECOND, OR THE THIRD time Madison County has screwed up delivering voting machines. The truth is they are incompetent and THEY NEED TO GO!!! Guess it never occurred to them to hold some in reserve to deliver to precincts as needed. Damn WJTV, can't you afford decent cameras? Whoever this guy is reporting from a courthouse looks like he is on dialup. Damn. Linda Allen is HOT tonight. Red blouse. Black outfit. She's money. Trump couldn't afford her. Looks like Longwitz and Ratcliffe are heading for a runoff. 33-31-25. Barb looks to be out with most of the vote counted. This should be interesting and a real dogfight.

10:23 PM.
Palazzo WON!!!. Won by 10,000 or so votes. Damn. Weill now up by nearly 5,000 votes with 89% reporting. 61% for Weill. Solid performance. Looks like Emfinger might just avoid a runoff. Matches up well with the JJ online poll on the race. Houston Patton wins with 505 of the vote. Should be in jail instead of a voting booth. Yup. Longwitz and Ratcliff off to a runoff. This one is going to get rough I have a feeling.

10:28. Ronnie and Kim at it again. Ronnie just has one of those voices that is nails on a chalkboard. Ugh. Kim doing a much better job than either Harvey or Leslie, and yes, even Matt Friedeman did in years past in that same spot. And he is not on the radio why? Davenport, Gallo, suck it up and put his ass on the air. Kim Wade or JT. Even a question?

Damn. 90% in and The Nun winning by 30,000 votes and up by 15%. He is KICKING Childer's ass. What is interesting is how Palazzo won by 5 and Nunalee by 15. Childers and Taylor are fairly moderate Congressmen, pro-gun, do vote against the Democratic Party at times but not enough for their districts. Damn. Felicia Rashad on Tavis Smiley. Does she EVER get old?

As of 8:37, WLBT is calling Thompson. Hopefully that is a little premature.

Fox not reporting Thompson/Marcy race, b/c they kept the polls open past 7 in Madison. I think. And it was 56/46 Bennie when I saw it half hour ago. I say close race.

KaptKangaroo said...

Holy...WLBT saying 70/30 Bennie vs. Marcy? What?

I agree. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Marcy.

Ahhh... 8:56 what station are you watching? FOX News at 8:57 has not called or presented returns for almost 45 minutes on that race.

Looks like pretty boy Longwitz and Mary are done, thank goodness.

Responded to you real quick. I'm watching Fox news and checking the results online. Foxnews.com called him around 8:47 or so.

Pelosi--see ya!!!

jturser said...

FOX 8:17 WLBT 8:24 for Thompson. Both are online.

KaptKangaroo said...

Yeah looked at them online. Funny the results via different media are "different." Also, not enough voting resources in Madison?

jturser said...

Yeah, I just read that only 49% of the precincts have reported in Madison. Thompson with 37,400 votes or 62%, Marcy with 22,647 votes or 37%, and Norwood with 586 votes or 1%. This is on the Foxnews.com interactive election tracker.

Silver: ... in fact, our model now projects a 64- to 65-seat gain for them [House Republicans].

Funny how StuffHer was holding out Silver's model earlier today as a ray of hope that GOP results were less than the hype because of "cell phones".

Bye bye Childers.

OK...seriously, who is waiting for the Nevada race and the California initiative?

These are the true referendums on the ballot.

One will demonstrate the degree of Liberalism that the American public is willing to tolerate while the other will illustrate the degree to which we are willing (beyond stopping all government foolishness by voting out incumbents) to toss the bird.

What happens in Nevada is not a reflection on the American public.

What happens in NV is definitely a message on the political messaging the media plays out and the messages politicians poll their message popularity.

While many of us are passionate about this country, the minutia that the media continues (on both sides) to amplify as issues and the politicians that pay attention to it through polls; the "None of the Above" vote is suiting and a message.

BTW, unemployment in NV is running at (a reported) 14.9%, if we take the plus 6 we are probably talking about 25%.

I think the biggest message I'm taking away from this unseating is: WOW, these jokers have been seated for a LONG TIME. Unbelievable. When did politics become a career? I thought it was based on being a Statesman willing to volunteer to carry the message of the People.

Just saying that I'm amazed at the number of years the incumbents have served that are being unseated.

Give me a number on the number of years that were unseated!

jturser said...

Obama and Biden visited Ohio a combined 19 times all for nothing. What a shame. Not!! Haha! Kasich won the Governor's race. Chalk up another one against the Democrats!

jturser said...

I believe for the most part that the american people have spoken. Listen to us or you will be voted out.

jturser said...

I think as far as the Thompson machine, the Republican party really needs to get behind a candidate and give major support in order to unseat this career congressman. Marcy seems to have been better than the candidates that have gone against Thompson in the past. Maybe after living in the district for a while and then garnishing the support of the Republican party and backers, he will have a better chance next time. Only time will tell.

jturser said...

I must comment to Auburnrat before I sign off. I think you are really concerned about the Iron Bowl. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!

KaptKangaroo said...

I think that Marcy has passionate support, I do. The party knows reality of the Delta and realize, the bigger issues that the constituency faces constitute a 10% vote swing. Solve that and you get elected.

Anonymous said...

The electoral roadmap for the Obamunist just got very ugly for 2012.

11,843 Votes

Compare that to local elections.

It is kinda surreal eh?

And just wait until next year here in Mississippi!

Redstate:

The real story is the underreported story of the night — the Republican pick ups at the state level.

There will be 18 states subject to reapportionment. The Republicans will control a majority of those — at least ten and maybe a dozen or more. More significantly, a minimum of seventeen state legislative houses have flipped to the Republican Party.

The North Carolina Legislature is Republican for the first time since 1870. Yes, that is Eighteen Seventy.

The Alabama Legislature is Republican for the first time since 1876.

For those saying this is nothing because it is the South, consider these:

The entire Wisconsin and New Hampshire legislatures have flipped to the GOP by wide margins.

The State Houses in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Montana, and Colorado flipped to the GOP.

The Maine and Minnesota Senates flipped to the GOP.

The Texas and Tennessee Houses went from virtually tied to massive Republican gains. The gains in Texas were so big that the Republicans no longer need the Democrats to get state constitutional amendments out of the state legislature.

These gains go all the way down to the municipal level across the nation. That did not happen even in 1994.

This was a tsunami.

Three Iowa Supreme Court justices lost their seats Tuesday in a historic upset fueled by their 2009 decision that allowed same-sex couples to marry.

Vote totals from 96 percent of Iowa's 1,774 precincts showed Chief Justice Marsha Ternus and Justices David Baker and Michael Streit with less than the simple majority needed to stay on the bench.

Their removal marked the first time an Iowa Supreme Court justice has not been retained since 1962, when the merit selection and retention system for judges was adopted.

Congratulations to the Republican winners! I think our state legislature is next on the target list for Republican control, and even if we don't make it all the way maybe we can turn enough seats to remove McCoy from the Speaker's job.

Redistricting, redistricting, redistricting. That's the most important thing for our focus in the next six months. The lines that are drawn next year will help determine the leadership structure of our state, and the legislature and other powers that be need to hear from us and know that we'll hold them accountable next fall for their failures. Bill Billingsley

Oklahoma voters have approved a measure that would forbid judges from considering international law or Islamic law when deciding cases."

Anonymous said...

Paul Gallo read an interesting list this morning or proposed tax increases that leaked out of Speaker McCoy's office. Briefly - taxes are going up on everything imaginable......

bill said...

McCoy has to be next. Our state's financial problems may not be able to be solved on spending cuts alone, but tax firsts cut later is exactly opposite of what we need to be doing. An incredible number of state houses went from Democrat to Republican yesterday, and we can do the same in Mississippi next year. Watch what your representatives do in this next session, and zero in especially on redistricting and hold your legislators' feet to the fire to insure they vote for a fair plan. If not, toss them out and try someone else. We can't stop now - stay engaged and informed, and let's wear the voting machines out every chance we get. Bill Billingsley

If someone compared me to David Vitter it would ruffle my feathers too!

Ali ShamsidDeen won 4,415. Does that mean that there are that many folks in Jackson who actually share his hatred of white people or does this mean that there are a few thousand folks who have no idea what extremely racist statements he has written concerning oppressive white folks and their quest to hold back blacks.

Perhaps it means that Chokwe Lumumba had his supporters vote for Shamsideen, which would come as no surprise since they are in the same law office.
Remember Lumumba is a long-time member of:
"The Republic of New Afrika declared Black People's independence because it "believes that Black People in Amerikkka make up a nation of people, a people separate and apart from the Amerikkkan people."

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
